My name is Christian Ugalde, I am currently enrolled in the Digital Media Bachelor’s at Florida State College at Jacksonville, where throughout my studies I have maintained a 3.8 GPA. I have a passion for writing and photography so I would like to go into the photojournalism field when I leave school, and I hope to start my own photography studio one day. During my brief time with photography, I have helped a company completely rebrand itself, I have also worked with a local business and reshot all of their product which increased their sales online and have had my works displayed in three different galleries.

Artist Statement
Photography is the art form that I choose to express myself through the most. When coming up with my next project, often I will think of one or two words that hold weight with me such as perspective or trauma, this allows me to capture images to form a collection influenced by these feelings. While out, I like to use multiple cameras ranging in quality so I can capture the same shot through different views. I get a lot of inspiration from frequenting historic art districts here in Jacksonville, all the different art markets and the museums that I take my family to. My art speaks to everyone from all walks of life, I am going to spread through my works the idea that no matter who we are or where we come from, we all exist on this planet together and we should all be seen as equals. Even though we may have been brought up in different situations and have different perspectives we are all in it together. I see art as a great equalizer, in the way that it sort of evens the playing field for everyone. Art has a way of breaking through social status, you do not have to be wealthy to be able to appreciate it and you do not need to be classically trained to become a master.
